Welcome to the RTEC
Real-Time Embedded & Control Systems Laboratory

I am Dr. Hyunjong Choi, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at San Diego State University. My academic journey led me to earn a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Riverside in 2021. I have developed a deep expertise in real-time embedded computing systems and now lead the RTEC lab, dedicated to advancing the field of intelligent real-time embedded, control, and cyber-physical systems.

Our Mission at RTEC: In the Real-Time Embedded & Control Systems Laboratory, we are driven by a passion for pioneering research in the realms of real-time systems, embedded technologies, and cyber-physical systems. Our goal is ambitious yet clear: to design and implement computing systems that are not only safe and predictable but also highly efficient in the face of the unpredictable challenges posed by dynamic uncertain environments. This research is crucial for the development of intelligent autonomous technologies, including self-driving cars, IoT-enabled smart home systems, and advanced structural health monitoring solutions.

Current Research Endeavors: Our team is currently engaged in developing innovative system software, advanced algorithms, and state-of-the-art modeling and analysis techniques. These efforts are aimed at building robust, efficient, and user-friendly systems for contemporary parallel computing platforms. By addressing complex challenges and exploring new technological horizons, we strive to create practical solutions with real-world applications.

Collaboration and Innovation: At RTEC, collaboration is key. We welcome students, fellow researchers, and industry professionals who are passionate about making groundbreaking contributions to the field of real-time embedded & cyber-physical systems. We are looking for a highly self-motivated PhD student to join the team (Contact, UCSD-SDSU JDP)!
